Giftly — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Giftly ("the app") is a personal tool for tracking birthdays, anniversaries, and gift ideas. Your privacy matters. This policy explains, in plain language, how Giftly handles your information. The short version: Giftly does not collect your data. The only thing that ever leaves your private storage is a wishlist you choose to share, and only the parts described below.

Information we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Giftly has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third‑party data collection. The developer never receives your data. The one exception is a wishlist you choose to share; see Shared wishlists.

Where your information lives

Everything you enter into Giftly — people, events, dates, and gift ideas — is stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, your data may also sync through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so it stays available across your devices. This iCloud data is controlled by you and Apple; the developer cannot access it.

Shared wishlists

You can make your own wishlists (for example "Birthday" or "Christmas") in Giftly. Like everything else, they're stored on your device and in your private iCloud account until you choose to share one.

When you share a wishlist, Giftly does two things:

Never published: who the list is shared with and which gifts have been claimed.

Claiming gifts: people who join your list can mark an item "claimed" so they don't buy the same thing. Other givers see only that an item is claimed, not by whom, and you, the list's owner, never see claims at all. A claim stores an anonymous iCloud identifier (not your name) so that only the person who claimed an item can unclaim it.

You're in control: in the app you can reset a list's link (the old link stops working), remove people, or stop sharing, which deletes the public copy. People you've shared with can leave a list at any time, which removes it from their device and withdraws their claims.

The giftlyy.com page is hosted on Amazon Web Services and loads the shared list directly from Apple's iCloud. It uses no cookies, analytics, or ads. Like most websites, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Contacts

If you choose to import people from Contacts, Giftly reads contact names and dates only to create entries you ask for. This happens entirely on your device. Contact information is never sent anywhere and is never shared with the developer or any third party.

Notifications

Giftly can schedule local reminders on your device for upcoming events. These notifications are generated on‑device and are not sent through any external server.

Third parties

Giftly does not include third‑party SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics services. No data is shared with anyone unless you choose to share a wishlist, as described above. Shared data is stored with Apple's iCloud, and the share page is hosted on Amazon Web Services.

Children's privacy

Giftly does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
